Carl Sagan in Broca's Brain: Reflections on the Romance of Science
writes "technology is a tool, not a panacea" (p.40). This sentence is
tacked on parenthetically to his charge that while science and
technology may be responsible, in part, for some of the problems in the
world, they are problems because of insufficient public understanding
and efforts to "accommodate our society to the new technologies." Can technorealism help?
