Back to Blogging

With that off my chest, time to get back to heavy-duty blogging.  We're back in Zakynthos, it's cold and raining most of the time, so time on my hands, the excitement of the Greek elections is behind us, and I spent most of yesterday getting up to date on my online reading, and there are umpteen bloggable thouhts that occurred to me while I was about it.  I really must get into the habit of blogging spontaneously and immediately; I always have the desire to ponder and organize my thoughts, do more research and gather more information, and as often as not, it never gets done, and everything waits while I get past that bottleneck.  The dreaded procrastination again!

Bush = Hitler?

In this political season with so much hyperbole, rash overstatement, hatred and polarization, Kim Du Toit, after visiting Dachau, reminds us that such talk is not only crazy, but disrespectful  not only to Bush, but to the people who suffered unimaginable atrocities:

When you equate Bush to Hitler, you're wanting to dishonor the President. I don't care much about that.

What I care about is that by trivializing the issue, by using your absurd hyperbole, you dishonor the suffering and the loss suffered by the people who were victimized by the real Hitler. Your own illusory suffering at the hands of this Republican president is not only trivial, it is non-existent, and do not even think you can begin to equate the two.
