NCAA: LSU

BATON ROUGE -- New Orleans Times Picayune reports LSU officials admitted five NCAA rules violations involving football players in an academic investigation report released Friday, but said because they do not view the violations as major the school does not expect severe penalties. The most serious infraction involved a university tutor helping a football player write and type a term paper at the center, which offers tutoring and other academic support to LSU athletes.

APOLOGY: Robert Gates, Texas A&M President

LUBBOCK – Dallas Morning News reports Texas A&M president Robert Gates has publicly apologized to Texas Tech president David Schmidly for disparaging comments about Tech in the 2002 Aggies football media guide. However, A&M must still answer questions from the Big 12 after calling Tech "classless clowns."
