CEDAR CITY -- Education is an issue at the forefront of state concern, and was discussed at Gov. Michael Leavitt's competency-measured education summit Tuesday at Southern Utah University.
The day-long event was the fourth of five summits planned to address the shift in public education from an attendance-based system to competency-based learning. Yesterday's summit was for the southwest area of the state. It began with Leavitt endorsing the Performance Plus plan proposed by the State Board of Education.
