Apple will shortly announce a new version of QuickTime 6 with support for 3GPP, according to the CNet article Apple's QuickTime phones Japan. 3GPP refers to "3rd generation Partnership Project" wireless technology that enables phones to display videos using MPEG-4. NTT DoMoCo is about to announce new phones supporting 3GPP, and thus Apple will be in the mobile device media player arena.
MacCentral also has the news item, but with a few different quotes and additional points.
Which raises the question, can VRs on small wireless devices (like a Palm) be far behind? Would we even want to try to view a VR on a cellphone?

Purpose |
VRlog provides news, developments and analysis of the virtual reality (VR) world from a nature photographer's perspective. Since I am not connected to or funded by any VR vendor, I intend to objectively appraise what's going on, and the direction VR is headed in. -- erik goetze
