DPreview has a very interesting Q&A about the Nikon D2H
with a Nikon rep. The rep explains the LBCAST sensor technology which
gives the D2H such impressive speed at capturing images. But it goes on
to cover many other aspects of the D2H.
One reason LBCAST might be worth knowing about even if you are not
interested in the D2H is the likelihood that the sensor technology will
find its way into other Nikon DSLRs. Look at all the models that are
due for refreshing: the D100, D2X; and two new models that are needed
to compete with Canon: lets call them a "D75" for the $1000 price
point, and a full-frame "D3X" to compete with the EOS1ds. That would
make for four new and updated DSLR models they could conceivably
announce soon.
DSLRs are becoming essential tools for anyone who wants to build a high
resolution panorama without spending a year and a day scanning film.
