Our own disingenue

Thomas Bray on Granholm's disingenuous response after he wrote about her support for slavery reparations:

"My column on that subject last week led her to claim that she had been misunderstood. 'No, I don't support writing checks to people,' Granholm said Wednesday. 'What I meant was that I support equal opportunity to employment, and banning predatory lending, redlining and racial profiling.'

"Oh, please. Jennifer Granholm didn't understand what she was endorsing when, in a debate before an NAACP audience, she expressed support for reparations? She didn't understand that what Congressman John Conyers and others have talked about is writing a huge check on the credit of federal taxpayers to a 'foundation' that would then dispense lots of smaller checks as it sees fit -- most likely to those who vote correctly?"

More on the moronic proposal

The Detroit News is particularly emphatic in urging a no vote on the Healthy Michigan proposal:

"The initiative transcends all others as the worst ever to appear on a Michigan ballot. It tampers with the fundamental law of the state -- the Constitution -- to line the pockets of special interests and private individuals.

"Prop 4 is a terrible precedent. It is the first state Constitutional amendment to directly allocate public dollars to private companies and individuals. Under the principles of Prop 4, it would be no stretch to hand state environmental funds to the Sierra Club, or to give control of the natural resources budget to the National Rifle Association. Overall, Prop 4 is an invitation for every special interest group to try and lock in limited public dollars. All each would need is a petition drive and a successful advertising campaign."

Pathetic

Bloghog purports to be a search engine for weblogs.  But what else can we say about a search tool which this morning shows no entries for any of these?
