Illinois Library Advocacy Day:
Illinois Library Advocacy Day is April 9, 2003. CLS will be providing bus transportation to Springfield again this year. More information on this event is forthcoming. In the interim, please contact Veronda Pitchford at CLS if you have questions.

Teach Model Coach:
The deadline for applications for the Teach Model Coach program has been extended until March 14, 2003. Also, the time commitment for coaches has been reduced to 3 to 5 hours a month. So please consider applying, if you haven't already done so.

CIPA update from Wired News:
"Justices Eye Library Porn Filters. The Supreme Court hears arguments on whether Congress can force public libraries to filter out porn sites on their Internet terminals. [Wired News]" A decision is expected by July 2003.

For those looking for a simple guide to computers, try The Secret Guide to Computers. The 28th ed. (2002), which is available as an ebook on the web, has a wealth of information on personal computers. It, however, does not cover advanced topics like servers or handhelds.
