It was a fun four days off, but it was time to come home. Like most of us, when Tammy and I take time away from home, we hit a point where we think more of coming home than staying away. A six hour drive from Des Moines to Springfield is generally boring and this one was no exception. We did stop at a great HyVee grocery store in Belton, MO and picked up a late lunch from their deli. I was able to get a couple of small ham and swiss sandwiches, chips and a soda for much less than the same at a Subway and it was just as good. If you're traveling, don't overlook the grocery stores as a source for good, quick meals.
I had plenty of time to quietly think on the drive but my thoughts were interrupted by the large sign that said "Rest Area - 1 Mile - Wireless Internet". Shocked but not surprised, as Dave Winer found plenty of WiFi hotspots along the way in his travels last year. What got me was that it was in the state-run rest area along side an interstate highway with a sign utterly devoid of hype.
