Radio Upstreaming Beta Report
Jeff left me a comment noting that the beta seemed to use *more* of the processor. As background information, it's important to note that most of the improvement comes from smarter scanning that uses the processor for a short time during each interval. The beta notes show the scanning intervals, so pay special attention to make sure that Radio is the culprit. The scanning still happens every 10 seconds, but the peaks are smaller and shorter and place a lower burden on the host computer. Until we recode the kernel, this is a great start on solving the problem.
Starting next week, I'll be working with a group of UserTalk developers in the community to start work on Radio 9, an evolution of the current application. We'll have a separate website that the public can use to follow the progress, leave comments and feedback and if you're brave, download test versions.
