Shuttle launch scrubbed

I was staying up tonight hoping to post some pictures of Endeavour's launch.  That won't happen, thanks to an oxygen leak.  Looks like about a week before another chance to launch.

Ouch!!

Kathy Kinsley describes how to handle a rapist.  Effective.

I have to disagree with her characterization of date rape as seduction, though I'm sure it does often fit.

Several years ago I sat on a jury in a date rape case and it was anything but clear cut.  In an attack case the usual question is, "This woman was violently raped.  Did the defendent do it?"   It's tougher when everybody agrees about what happened and who was involved, and you have to decide whether it was rape  We said it was and found out later it was his third conviction for the same thing. This was no attack, but I wouldn't say threats and intimidation are seduction.

Sitting on such a jury is probably the best education most of us can get about the legal system, and I came away with a high regard for the way we do justice.  Do it, if you get the chance.
