We have met the enemy and he is greasy.

Joel Mowbray, who used to weigh 80 pound more than he does now, writes:

As we approach the food-filled holidays, it is important to remember that food--fast or otherwise--is not the enemy. If only trial lawyers could figure that out.

Joel, Joel.  Lawyers don't think fast food companies are the enemy, they are the prey.

Did anyone hang?

While writing last night's post, I Googled "Battle of Olustee" and uncovered some stuff that got a little eerie.

Apparently, Union forces from Jacksonville were attempting a strategy that was more political than military; if they could set up a provisional government in Tallahasse quickly enough, Lincoln could have Florida's electoral votes in the 1864 election.  The resistance they met at Ocean Pond, near Olustee Station turned out to be proportionately one of the bloodier engagements of the war, with about a fourth of the combatants becoming casualties.

Fierce fighting for Florida's electoral votes.  I wonder if any of the soldiers were named Chad.
