[Item Permalink] IBM Fortran and C/C++ compilers available for Mac OS X -- Comment()
This was completely unexpected: IBM Fortran and C/C++ compilers are available for Mac OS X. I have been using these compilers for a long time (since 1988), and they perform quite well. It is probable that the performance you get on Macs will significantly increase compared to software compiled with gcc and Absoft Fortran.

My things have alread arrived, but it may take some days to unpack. My PowerBook is up and running, and connected to the net, so I'll survive here.

Here is another hint about the device I wrote about last Friday: the pipes at the end are meant for cooling liquid to keep the device operational.
