Not lovin' it: "I'm not sure whether it's some kind of temporary PR campaign or if the slogan is with us to stay, but employees at Vienna McDonald's are now wearing black T-shirts with the slogan "I'm lovin' it" imprinted on them. [...] having the employees wear these T-shirts seems like an exercise in capitalist cynicism, because the slogan is just ambiguous enough to state that they also love their jobs." IBM Boosts G5 Speed With New Compiler: "IBM offers its optimized compiler not just for Intel CPUs, but also for its own G5 processor (article in German at Heise). Unlike gcc, it is optimized for the G5 and achieves a major boost in speed, as first results show. The SPEC values for the older Power4 processor are way higher." [MacSlash]

I downloaded and installed both the Fortran and C/C++ compilers by IBM. I tested the Fortran compiler with some codes from my textbook on Fortran 90/95 (available in Finnish). The compiler performed as expected. To use Fortran 90/95 files which end in .f90, you have to use the command f90, or use the flag -qsuffix=f=f90. The use of the IBM compiler is documented, for example, in the user guide (see page 55) to the IBMSC supercomputer at CSC, Finland.
