I hate that smarmy Dell dude.
Now Dell, the company that tried to kill the reseller channel, is suddenly reaching out to the channel and offering what they call white-box solutions.
I have received 4 letters so far from Dell telling me how they want to build a relationship. Actually, they want my relationships. They don't tell you that the customers that I sell a Dell white-box solution will have less of a warranty than someone buying a Dell box from them. Why would I subject clients to that?
There are all kinds of other "gotchas" in the new Dell white-box strategy that are being covered well in the trade press.
Dell is legitimately interested in the large white-box market and is trying to have its cake and eat it too. Dude - it ain't gonna happen.
