I wasn’t going to say anything but by special request, here’s my take on the Tim Couch vs The Fans scenario.

When I was playing little league baseball many years ago I first heard the expression “rabbit ears”.  A guy who heard all the chatter from the opposing players (hey batter, no batter, suh-wing!) was said to have rabbit ears.  It was worse if he actually let it influence his performance.  The cool kids stayed focused and ignored the chatter and taunts.

Tim Couch has a bad case of rabbit ears.  He is a pro making millions and he has to be able to tune out that stuff and focus on the game.  The great ones all do.

While there were probably some idiots cheering because he was injured, I guarantee that 99% of the cheers were because Kelly Holcomb was warming up and coming in - not because our team lost 20 yards on the play and Couch got hurt.  I have gone to almost every Browns home game since I could drive and know how fans react - plain and simple.

He will probably be labeled a crybaby for the rest of his career (remember Ed Muskie?) and he will have a lot to overcome.  The Browns coaches should have kept him away from the media after the mild concussion.

Prediction - He will be cheered lustily at the next home game (against the new Texans) if he has a decent game in Tampa and keeps his mouth shut.
