Water - you only really think about it when you have too much or too little.
When the water main burst at 22nd and Payne we were lucky that we didn't get flooded like many of our neighbors downhill and to the West. We did go through the boil alert for a couple of days but that is easier to handle in an office for 9 hours/day than a home for 24. We used bottled water for coffee/tea and drank pop.
But it reminded me of the last time we lost water pressure - that's a real nightmare. You can't flush the toilet, wash, shower or shave, clean the dishes or any of the other things you forget about when the taps are flowing. The dog needed bottled water - so did the frogs (not to mention us humans).
Water is going to be a HUGE resource issue in the coming years. Cleveland is very fortunate to be perched on a big old pile of it. We have to be careful not to squander this resource as other areas try to tap in.
In addition, we don't get hit annually with hurricanes and other disastrous natural forces (outside the occasional blanketing by snow). It gives credence to the old "Best Location in the Nation" campaign.
