Your Doctor is "IN" --- The Draft pool As an irregular reader of the mainstream newspapers and weeklies I'm sure I may have missed the official word on on SSS preparations for a draft of health care practicioners. But, thanks to Jeff Sainio who dropped in from an unknown link on antiwar.com to a post I made after a visit to a DMV office, we have this SSS newsletter update from the Selective Service Service system on their diligent efforts (complete with outside--well paid I'm sure--consultants) to be prepared for a draft of health care practitioners ages 20 to 44! (See page 6 of the newsletter .pdf file) How many doctors and nurses at Cone Hospital do you think are aware that they may be the first in line for a draft to fight the War on Terror in the Homeland? If you are not sure, send them a copy of the newsletter. Might make for interesting chatter in OR or ER discussions. (Just what I would want to be; a doctor, youthful 20's shot, 2 years out of grueling medical school a residency program with a six-figure student loan balance to match my salary --- and a draft notice comes in the mail for a two year stint of mandatory service to the Department of Homeland Security.) --- again, just a reminder.
