Socialism 101 Comes to Guilford County In case you were wondering what is behind all those signs popping up around town, below is from a guy (yes white) who lives in the High Point area. On Wednesday, April 28 at 11:45AM, Dr. Grier has invited Richard Kahlenberg to address the School Board. The meeting will be held at 712 North Eugene Street in the GCS Boardroom. Kahlenberg is the author of "All Together Now: Creating Middle-Class Schools through Public Choice." This text is the basis for much of Dr. Grier's ideologies around public education in general, and the High Point Choice Plan in particular. Richard Kahlenberg is the guy promoting "Economic Desegregation" of our schools. He is, like Dr. Grier, a disciple of Horace Mann. If you want something more than just a hagiography of Mr. Mann the opinion of a New York State Teacher of the Year, is a good read. Doing some cramming on Horace Mann is worth your while since our current school superintendent is the past president of the Horace Mann League. The really ironic thing (unless you are in the know) is that the major impetus for the Grier plan in High Point comes from being pro-active towards meeting President Bush's No Child Left Behind Act; the same President Bush supported by many of those against the School Choice plan. If you care about what is being planned for your kids, you should think about attending the meeting above. (Might want to do some homework on the IB program in Guilford County as well. This is likely the next program we'll be asked to increase funding for to match the Department of Education's renewed interest in IB programs now that President Bush has us back in UNESCO.) 11:33:43 PM![]() |
