The Hub Ltd

Was looking all over town for a good men's store to buy a couple of suits and had just about given up.  We were heading down Battleground looking for a driveway to complete a U-turn in to go home.  It just happened that the first driveway was the one in front of Longhorn Steak House where China Bowl used to be.  Looking straight ahead at the building behind Longhorn's, I saw a small sign that read The Hub Ltd.  I recalled that name as a men's store out on I-40 and Guilford College Road when we first moved to town in 1998, so we drove up.  Sure enough it was the same store having spent some time on West Market St. and now moved as of two weeks ago to this new location.

Inside, brothers Kent and Keith Tager carrying on the family tradition since 1952 really took care of me.  They know their menswear. Gitman Bros. shirts (made in PA) and Johnston and Murphy shoes to go with some attractive Italian fabric suits.  Nothing but top flight workmanship, an on-site tailor shop and I walked out with two banker grade suits, two shirts and two ties all for under $1000...including sales taxation.

Along with just stumbling in another quirk: As Kent was measuring me up he asked where I worked.  Not expecting much of a recognition, I dead panned, "The John Birch Society."  Kent replied, "Oh, I've sold some suits to some of your members, Steve Worley and Leonard Hatcher...my car mechanic." Small world.

It's good to be Chief

"I know the game," Alston said. "I've played the game. And I've played the game well."

The Tribal Council has spoken.

I generally agree with Allen Johnson's assessment of the new Guilford County Board of Commissioners, but I don't think I could have pulled it off using the same analogy.
