While millions of Americans undoubtedly welcome any TSA indignity under the guise of "preventing terrorism," millions more are not willing to give blind obedience to arbitrary authority. TSA creates only a false sense of security, at great cost not only financially but also in terms of our dignity. How we as Americans react to authoritarian agencies like TSA is an indicator of how much we still value freedom over our persons and effects.

Godzilla Stomps Hollywood

Godzilla, the atomic monster from out of the ocean, being somewhat of a metaphor for US-Japanese relations its good to keep track of all his exploits.

Rather than a star in the Hollywood sidewalk though, wouldn't a footprint have been a better mark to leave?

Hard Currency

As those who care track the decline of the USD's value, I am reminded of my brother's perspective on all this. He is a chemistry major now long-time pharmacist. He takes the NRA-alchemist's approach:

It's only a matter of time

While I would not say sell all your dollars, you might want to diversify out of the US dollar such that people don't someday point at you like a destitute Enron employee with a worthless 401K and say what a fool to have put everything in one basket.

How far will the Federal Government go to defend the dollar?
