Congressman Patrick McHenry On CAFTA: From Patrick McHenry's NC10th District Campaign website (still on-line): "Now negotiations are underway to expand NAFTA to create a Free Trade Area of the Americas (FTAA) encompassing the entire Western Hemisphere. Representative McHenry will vigorously oppose this proposal. Furthermore, he will work tirelessly to ensure that any future trade agreements are made without sacrificing the manufacturing workers of the Tenth District." From the first and last sentences of the CAFTA preamble: "The governments of Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, and the United States of America resolved to...CONTRIBUTE to hemispheric integration and provide an impetus toward establishing the Free Trade Area of the Americas." Here is the photo-op of Patrick McHenry during his election campaign -- also still posted on his campaign website. He looks great there standing in front of the Stop the FTAA booth at Hickory's Oktoberfest. This should be plenty of proof that it appears the young Patrick McHenry might be able to live up to his near match founding era name. Patrick: "Give us NO on CAFTA or give us death." When President Bush looks the 29 year old and youngest member of the US House in the eye and says, "Patrick, you could have a great career ahead of you..." we want to make sure that Patrick has the courage to reply, "I'm sorry Mr. President but my 1st duty is to uphold and defend the Constitution. My second duty is to represent the people of my district. Your request to vote in favor of CAFTA does not trump either of those." Contact Congressman McHenry today. Thank him for his stance and remind him, "No more Richard Burr's please." 1:58:52 AM![]() |
CAFTA Quote of the Day "What masquerade now as trade deals are really vehicles for a return to feudalism...the establishment of a a system by which a handful of powerful entities accountable only unto themselves make the rules by which the common citizenry stripped of personal net worth and private ownership are forced to live by." --- Anonymous Patriot July 1st 2005 1:23:48 AM![]() |
