Today I delivered more signs to supporters. I happened to be placing a sign outside an office in downtown High Point when "Jeff" walked up to me. A proud man in dire straits it seems, who needed a job to do. Boy was he energetic. He offered to put up more signs around town if I would pay him a little. I only had $3.00 cash, so I gave him that and he put up 6 signs for me.
Then it was time for me to pick up my Racheal Angel, so I promised I’d be back. He had originally asked for four dollars. I picked Racheal up from the bus stop, and made some sandwiches for us to eat on the way back to High Point. Then we headed back to High Point. Jeff said he’d be down Main Street. I looked around for him for about 10 minutes before I spotted him again. I cringed as I saw some of my signs placed in areas I was not sure about. Some of the signs were facing the buildings across the street, but were not faced in the opposite direction so that drivers passing could really see.
I got out of the car and Jeff was eager to place more signs. So I stressed to him again that I did not want my signs placed in front of businesses unless they were asked. I also told him to put them at intersections and advised him of High Point City political sign regulations. He seemed to understand and was very cooperative, so I gave him $20.00 and he took 15 signs to place around town. Jeff seems to know downtown High Point very well. J I hope I helped him. He helped me out, too. If he is depressed as he says, I hope he can find more work in the future. Work definitely helps.
