Day With(out) Art

I posted the Untitled fine art print, today, Dec 1st. This date is recognized as the day for the arts to raise the awarness of AIDs.

While I was not intending to have the piece be about AIDs, its published date is now associated with it and thus carries AIDs as part of its meaning. I decided not to delete the post and publish the work tomorrow as that would not jive with the spontaneous nature of this web log. I also think Untitled's demonstration of anonimity, invisability, and loss (of subject and author,) are appropriate for the occasion.

With this in mind, I want to take some space to note a few important links regarding AIDS, please take the time to look:

AIDS.ORG

United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS

The AIDS Memorial Quilt

Thank you.

Free Fine Art Print

Perhaps this should be Free Conceptual Fine Art Print-

Hang on for a bit...I'll get to the free stuff...

Early November had us looking at Magritte's painting The Treachery of Images noting how self-referential works, particularly ones that seem to contradict themselves, make great fodor for artists and philosophers.

In exploring Magritte's title, we went on to look at art titles in general.

Going back to seemingly self-contradictory statements, we took a look at images that were called Untitled and introduced the idea of the transparent GIF being perhaps the definitive image to be called Untilted with an artist signing such an image as Anonymous being the most appropriate.

Following the idea of the anonymous artist, we noted Japanese pottery masters who do not sign their works, but sign collatoral elements which associated them by their name to the work.

This brought us to the various marks that are placed on a fine art prints that include the artist's name and title, and a lot of other stuff...

Late November we looked at Certificates of Authenticity, what they include, and how they effect the piece.

With that, I bring you an on-line art piece, Untitled. Simply print, cut out (or matt over) the navigation bar and other extra stuff. You will then have your very own Fine Art Print, complete with a Certificate of Authenticity.
