It's Great To See It Done Right

Ticket To Heaven sells tickets that are symbolic testimonials of faith and expressions of a chosen morality.

Before you get excited, a note from their Disclaimer:

...this is a statement of intent and belief and is not intended as a contract for services, transportation or the supply of goods...

Religous stuff aside...They are doing some real cool extra informational stuff to bring them additional meaning and value-

For $19.95 you get:

  • An Official Ticket to Heaven (printed paper.)
  • The ticket is personalized with your name.
  • The ticket includes a unique number. (International Registry number.)
  • Your name is associated with the International Registry number and is publically displayed on their web site.
  • A Certificate of Authenticity .
  • The Certificate of Authenticity has your name and International Registry number.
  • The Certificate of Authenticity has guilloche elements
  • A Testimonial Card for your wallet (plastic)

OK, The Ticket is great subject matter on which to base a piece of art. I'll leave the answer as to "why?" as an excercise for the Reader.

Certificates of Authenticity, we've about beaten into the ground

Registery Numbers, we spoke a bit about.

The idea of having your name associated with a certain ticket, on a publically available web page, is just great and is probably cutting edge stuff in the field of Art Provenance. It also offers a nice twist by placing the Collector on display.

The plastic Testimonial Card for your wallet, makes perfect sense in the context of their concept, and it may be interesting to encorporate into an art work. Streatching the card idea for a bit-

  • Reminds Collector of the piece.
  • Allows Collector to remotely share piece with others.
  • May be a worthy work of art in its own right

I really like the idea of remotely sharing the work, or how the card can bring the meaning of the piece into your day to day life without it actually being there. Sort of a virtual piece in your wallet (that's a whole other idea.) More properly it would be a surrogate piece for your wallet.

...hmmm...
