Astronomical Decoration on Ceramics, Mesopotamia part VIII Oops, going back to Mesopotamia for a second... The Assyrian (Babylonian) Sky Map of Sargon is an illustration of people on ships with various creatures above. However, it has been deciphered as containing a planisphere, star map, by Andis Kaulins. It is unclear to me what the tablet is made of, maybe it is of stone or ceramic. However, the idea of a narrative, illustrated with information, makes it compelling enough to mention here. (It also fits with some of my other research on art containing information.) 10:30:36 PM |
