Of Hidden Spaces and Meaning-

Daniel Oberti creates ceramic tsukubai, or water basins. They are short containers for water and ritual washing before the tea ceremony. His include a small compartment which "in time and with the proper location, fill with good energy. This space may contain special objects or ritual items that the garden steward wishes to safely preserve."

As we have looked at this sorrt of thing before.  These compartments can be powerful spaces for meaning. They allow the user, as opposed to the artist, to change the meaning of the piece.

In various ways, I like to include this ability in my own work.
