Olympics-

Potters have their own Olympics.   There is not one offical contest, but a there are a variety, held by varous organizations, including:

Feats of Clay in New York.
Make it in Stroud.
U.S and World Championships.  (couldn't find a direct link)

The contest can include:

Fastest Teapot.
One Handed Throwing
Tallest Pot
Straightest cylander
Widest Pot
Number of Pots Made

Now a pot made under these circumstances (I think they rarely fire such pieces) is a  product on which the contestants are judged.  The meaning of these pots is focused on what that part of the contest is concerned with.

The pots are data, if you will, corresponding to the potter's skill.  Of course this is true of all pots, but a contest highlights this attribute.
