In regards to the Tino Rumor. It would not be terrible just as long as the Cardinals pick up most of the tab. For those who dont know, Tino grew up in Tampa and played college at the University of Tampa where he earned a spot on the Olympic team. I would view Tino as an upgrade over Travis Lee. This team needs quality clubhouse guys. The guy has a couple world series rings, and was an integral part of the success the Yankees had. I was surprised that George let the Tampa product walk. Sure, he has been down the past few seasons. But, I welcome this move and I think a return to the AL might be just what the doctor ordered.
Note from Carol: Tino actually has four World Series rings, besides that Olympic Gold. He won the Home Run Derby in 1997, a season when he also had a 3-HR game (which I was fortunate to have attended in person. Wow!)
If Tampa Bay will put enough into the deal to make it palatable for the Cardinals, Tino Martinez and his $7.5 million could go to the Devil Rays this week.
3. Tino packs his bags. Literally -- he put his St. Louis home on the market and seems to have played his last game in a Cardinals uniform. When I ragged on Tino's acquisition a couple years ago, my New York buddies swore that I'd warm up to the guy. Instead he'll go down as one of my least favorite Cardinals of all time. I can forgive poor production, but not when it's mingled with a piss-poor attitude. Will he reunite with Sweet Lou in Tampa? The Devil Rays practically invented themselves as the place where veterans go to die (Greg Vaughn, Wade Boggs, new Chisox manager Ozzie Guillen), so maybe this is a good fit for Tino.
There are still some Yankees fans who wish Tino had stayed. Reading this post, it seems that some Cardinals fans wished he had stayed also.
Note from Carol: There are still some Mariners fans who miss Tino. I'm definitely not the only one cheering for him when he comes back to Seattle!

The Lunar Eclipse I Didn't Get to See
Wouldn't you know it... Clouded over here just a couple hours before the eclipse. How annoying! I think I should have been able to see this one from my kitchen window but with the cloud cover I couldn't see anything. Grrr... I've seen several lunar eclipses before so this is not a major disappointment. Still...
Other bloggers did better and got photos for me to admire:
