Happy Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving Greeting

Well, I bowed out of my dinner invitation for today because I figured that with everybody else in the country off eating turkey, I'd finally have a decent internet connection and might be able to make up some lost time on a couple of projects that have looming deadlines. Just don't have the energy these days to put in hours driving and even more hours chitchatting—not to mention feeling guilty because I can't contribute anything to the feast. Too many things I desperately need to get done and not enough stamina at the best of times. (And I do have a friend closer to home who'll be bringing me a huge plate of turkey and fixings any time now so I'm not really a poor pitiful neglected soul.)

Of course, the internet is, as expected, back to its speedy-as-I-can-get-until-I-can-afford-broadband self. (Must have been all you good folks making holiday plans slowing things up the past few days!) But did I start right in to work today? Uh... Of course not. I've been checking out what other bloggers are up to, mixed in with a few breaks to do some actual work. So I've basically "wasted" at least the time I saved on driving, though at a much lower cost in energy, thankfully.

§ - Whole Stuffed Camel - This version is similar to the one that my family's been passing around for about 30 years. Needless to say, we've never managed to actually try cooking it, camels being hard to come by in Seattle!

§ - A bit of my own ethnic heritage, Dutch New York: The Un-Pilgrims. Come to that, my colonial ancestors in New England were Massachusetts Bay, not Plymouth... No Mayflower forebears for me.

§ - Rayne and Paul have been cooking and The Gothamist checked out preparations for the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.
