War Coverage Might Ruin NCAA Tourney Coverage!

This comes from an article which apparently is an AOL exclusive. The article then goes on to invite discussion. Sorry I can't provide a link because, after all, it is an exclusive. The fact that we are even discussing something like this shows you how spoiled we are in this country.

What else can I say. The idiocy speaks for itself.

PromoGuy's Monday Mission 3.11

1. Do you have any plans for "Spring Break" this year?

Unfortunately I have a trial scheduled to start on Easter Monday and I’m supposed to teach at a seminar Thursday of that same week so I won’t be going anywhere. Besides, my son’s high school baseball team will probably be practicing all of that week.

2. Did you ever have any wild Spring Break experiences? C'mon, tell me the stories!

I do have some wild stories, but none of them involve Spring Break. Sorry.

3. What is your most memorable vacation of your youth?

When I was a kid my favorite vacation spot was Wildwood, New Jersey. I loved the beach, the rides and the carnival atmosphere.

4. What was the best vacation you've ever had as an adult?

My wife and I went to Maui on our honeymoon and stayed at the Four Seasons in Wailea. We rented a car and drove all over the island including the road to Hana where we rented a small cottage right on the water for a night. That road was absolutely beautiful beyond description (just like my wife). We also went up to the top of the dormant volcano Haleakula and watched the sun rise over the crater at an altitude of 10,000 feet. I was one of the most incredible sites I’ve ever seen. It was 40 degrees up there with a howling wind (and 70 back at our hotel when we had left at 3 AM). We went back last year and rode on horseback down into the crater and back up.

5. Now, what is that "Dream Vacation" that you have always wanted to take if you had the time & money?

I’d love to go back to Italy. I had spent a summer there at the University of Bologna on a scholarship. I’d love to take a month and just tour the country at our leisure.

6. Have you ever take, or had the urge to take, a "blog vacation?" That is, just taking some time off from blogging?

I guess I haven’t been blogging long enough to suffer any kind of “blogger burnout.” Some days I really don’t feel I have something to say so I don’t post. I feel like I’m supposed to though. I guess it’s that Catholic guilt syndrome.

7. You know how you get that creepy "danger" vibe you sometimes get from people you don't know? Has that ever turned out to be right? Or have you ever had a bad feeling about someone or a situation and not listened to that "little voice?"

Yeah, I get that vibe, sometimes from people I do know. It comes along with that Twilight Zone music. The times I haven’t listened to that “little voice” I’ve always regretted it.

BONUS: Do you wanna see me beggin' baby, can't you give me just one more day?

O.K. You get 24 hours.

Today's Comment Question: Suppose you have a friend or relative who has never heard of, or even used, the 'net. What one thing would you show that person to convince them of the value of the Internet?

That would be my parents. There is nothing I could show them to convince them of the value of the Internet. They’re hopelessly stuck in the 1950’s. Computers are for guys in white lab coats.

While We're On The Subject Of Food

OK gang, tell me, does this offend you:

Well apparently it offends some politically correct idiots in England according to the Daily Telegraph. Schools across Britain have been ordered by local authorities to abandon the ancient tradition of serving hot cross buns at Easter so as not to offend children of non-Christian faiths. According to the Telegraph:

Officials in the London borough of Tower Hamlets decided to remove the buns from menus this year after criticism over its decision to serve pancakes on Shrove Tuesday. A spokesman for the Labour-run council claimed that there had been "a lot" of complaints but did not have a figure.

The spokesman added: "We are moving away from a religious theme for Easter and will not be doing hot cross buns. We can't risk a similar outcry over Easter like the kind we had on Pancake Day. We will probably be serving naan breads instead."

Despite this ruling, the council confirmed that it will continue to organise special menus to celebrate events as diverse as the Chinese New Year, Italian National Day and Russian Independence Day.

Is this the end of Western Civilization as we know it? Well, if hot cross buns have been banned in your neighborhood and you have a hankering for some, you can get a recipe here.
