I just fixed the bug where NewtSync crashes for some repeating dates. And I was having major trouble reproducing the "date shift" problem that some users are experiencing... until I figured out that I had already fixed the problem with another post-3b optimization. I have a few other bugs to fix... one of them being that the iCal scripts say "as string" in order to convert dates to something that can be easily passed to Cocoa. This won't work, though... countries which represent their dates as day/month/year are sorta screwed. Gonna fix that, along with fixing another issue with modified address book entries, and do an interim release. 5:24:44 PM |

Wired: The Outlook Killer? "Mitch Kapor isn't trying to take on Microsoft. His ambitions are bigger: He wants to spark a software revolution." The fact that a horrible product like Outlook has gone thus far pretty much unchallenged is a testimony to the ubiquitousness of Microsoft's monopoly. [Scripting News] 5:09:40 PM |

NY Times: "Al Gore has decided against running for president in 2004, according to associates of Mr. Gore. Mr. Gore will announce his decision in an interview on 60 Minutes tonight, according to those sources." I'm glad Gore isn't running again. We need a good Democratic candidate. I'm hoping Kerry runs; I'd vote for him in a second. [Scripting News] 4:05:19 PM |

This weekend... I set up an online forum where users and developers can discuss NewtSync. At the moment I'm working on fixing some bugs in the iCal sync. I saw Peter Gabriel at the Oakland Arena last night. Three hours of driving in the rain (total of there and back, plus picking up a friend in SF), and four hours of inspiring, enlightening entertainment. If you get a chance to see this performance, jump on it. And be sure to pick up his new CD if you haven't.
You haven't lived until you've seen one of the biggest names in rock get in a gigantic hamster ball and chase his guitar player around the stage. |
