I believe, based on conversations with an Israeli friend, that misguided U.S. pro-Israel lobby is doing a lot of damage to both the Israeli citizens and the Palestinians.
I doubt that many Israelis are as strong "hawks" as people in the U.S. who can safely meddle at a distance in the affairs of other countries without risking their own necks.
I hate to keep repeating myself, but the people of the Middle East deserve peace but the awful leadership both on the Palestinian side and the Israeli side is doing a great disservice to the people in that region.
People in the U.S. who enable the right wing faction of the Israeli government should consider their (partial) responsibility for the bad situation in the Middle East.
And, just to be clear: I strongly condemn the factions of the Palestinian leadership who incite their followers to commit acts of terrorism. President
Bush has, to his credit, made some good efforts recently in promoting peace in the Middle East, but people like Congressman DeLay (read the linked article!!!) impede any chance for real peace.
