The Voters Are Coming An amazing thing happened this weekend.  Louisiana voters proved that the democratic process is alive and well in this state.  The contenders in this weekends race were the incumbant democrat senator Mary Landrieu and her challenger, republican Suzanne Terrel.  Despite the over-kill of negative ads, millions of dollars poored into Terrel's campain, the visits from Bush (is that all he does?) and other republican notables, the republican challenger lost by 39,814 votes. Although this election did not do anything to offset the control of power in the senate, the result did serve as a wake-up call to the current administration that opposing interests are a force that should not be discounted. Long live the power of the vote! 5:32:16 PM     comment [] Selling War - - Beware of Babies in Incubators It wasn't too long ago when a different Bush and the rest of his clan led a campaign to promote war.  There was an onslaught of reports of "babies being taken out of incubators" stories coming from the government.  Passionate accounts by the President and others describing  babies being taken out of incubators in Kuwait were  heard everywhere.  It was eventually discovered that the story was nothing more than a government concocted PR promotion.    Ten plus years later (same name different Bush) the government is waging a campaign to promote war.  Before we all leap in this direction, wouldn't it be a good idea to make sure the "babies are still in the incubators."  That's just my thought, but I guess nobody has asked me lately.   Sometimes wars are inevitable - - however, it would be nice if the reasons presented for going to war are truly legitimate reasons.    9:50:06 AM     comment []
