Itar-Tass: "The Ukrainian parliament decided on Friday to recall the Ukrainian army contingent from Iraq. Two hundred and fifty-seven members of the Supreme Rada (Parliament) have voted for this decision."

SeattleTimes: "Democrats today delivered a $730,000 check to the Secretary of State's office, pushing Washington into an unprecedented statewide hand recount of nearly 3 million ballots in the governor's race.
The party also filed suit in the state Supreme Court, seeking a ruling that would allow reconsidering ballots that had been rejected earlier. Republicans charge the move threatens to tie up the election in court, calling the lawsuit 'a nuclear bomb'."
Nuke'm, I say.

When a government can only remain in power by lies and cheating, we know there is something rotten in that state and that they have something to hide.
In the case of the US it is torture. When they claim that statements produced under torture are admissible in US courts, they indirectly admit torture is being used by the US military.
JapanToday: "Evidence gained by torture can be used by the U.S. military in deciding whether to imprison a foreigner indefinitely at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, as an enemy combatant, the government concedes."
AirForceTimes: "Under detailed questioning by a federal judge, government lawyers asserted Wednesday the U.S. military can hold foreigners indefinitely as enemy combatants at Guantanamo Bay Naval Station, Cuba, even if they aided terrorists unintentionally and never fought the United States.
Could a 'little old lady in Switzerland' who sent a check to an orphanage in Afghanistan be taken into custody if unbeknownst to her some of her donation was passed to al-Qaida terrorists? asked U.S. District Judge Joyce Hens Green.
'She could,' replied Deputy Associate Attorney General Brian Boyle. 'Someone's intention is clearly not a factor that would disable detention.' It would be up to a newly established military review panel to decide whether to believe her and release her."
Which means there is total arbitrariness, one of the characteristics of a fascist regime; it's a decision made by the President - based on what? no one knows, no one is allowed to know or to question that decision. But it is also the reason why Bush should be arrested and brought before a court for war crimes.
Bush has installed an Inquisition that uses torture just like in the Middle Ages.

There are so many things Americans do not know about their criminal president because the press won't show them to you.
The man who calls himself President of the United States does not stop at harming people abroad, no, his policy is also aimed at exposing the American citizen to corporate criminality (of which Bhopal is just one example) in the Homeland.
ICH: "After the U.S. Food and Drug Administration discovered unsanitary conditions at a plant producing flu vaccine for the U.S. market, the agency refused to order a cleanup, nor did it inspect the plant to ensure that a cleanup was actually carried out. Instead, the FDA allowed the plant to 'comply voluntarily'. The vaccine later produced by the plant - 50 million doses, or half our expected supply - was so contaminated it was unusable.
That behavior is hardly unique. The Environmental Protection Agency, the Occupational Health and Safety Administration and every other federal agency charged with protecting consumers, patients, workers and customers have also become far less aggressive in enforcing the law.
However, even that last bit of protection is now under attack by the so-called 'tort reform' movement, which seeks to dramatically limit the financial penalties that juries can impose in cases of gross corporate misconduct or negligence. Corporate America has made passage of those bills its highest priority at the state and federal levels. With government agencies already defanged, removing the danger of large court awards would leave private citizens with almost no recourse."
Bush is not protecting the Homeland, he is protecting his rich friends and himself, those who would do anything to duck draft or military service.
LawyersAW: "Lawyers against the War applied today to have the torture charges against George Bush set before a judge to determine whether a summons or warrant should issue. A date will be set in BC Provincial Court, Criminal Division, at Vancouver on Monday December 6th 2004.
Canada has a duty under the Convention against Torture to 'take effective measures to prevent torture'."

WashingtonPost: "A mid-level House aide said yesterday that he was the one who, during last month's drafting of a huge spending bill, added a provision that could give staffers on the House and Senate appropriations committees broad access to Americans' tax returns.
But a reconstruction of what happened suggests less a sinister conspiracy than problems arising from the legislative practices of the present Congress, in which sleep-deprived staffers often take on much of the burden of writing major bills under deadline pressure, and legislation drafted in secret is rushed through both chambers before lawmakers, let alone the general public, have a chance for review."

All along the ages the sky has inspired many artists and writers. The Nehru Planetarium in New Delhi has an exhibition on the influence of astronomy in the arts and literature: the Sky as a Muse.
