BaltimoreSun: "The United States pledged $15 million Monday, then raised that amount by $20 million Tuesday as other countries stepped up their pledges."
Bush's inauguration alone will cost about $40 million. Bush is a cynical cheapskate.
His inauguration will be paid by his corporate friends, who, of course, will want something in return. "The $250,000 donors include former Enron President Richard Kinder, Dell Computer founder Michael Dell and Texas oilman and corporate takeover specialist T. Boone Pickens.
Also on the $250,000 list are ExxonMobil Corp.; Sallie Mae Inc., a Reston, Va.-based company that annually provides billions of dollars in student loans; United Technologies Corp., a unit of which manufactures Army Black Hawk helicopters; the utility Southern Co.; and Stephens Group Inc., an Arkansas venture capital company."
The corporate takeover of America is almost complete now. And to top it all off:
Guardian: "George Bush has purged the last of his father's senior advisers, handing over control to his neocon allies."

Morons.org: "According to the Seattle Post-Intelligencer, six Navy SEALs and two Navy wives filed a lawsuit against the Associated Press on Tuesday, claiming the AP invaded their privacy by publishing pictures of the soldiers interacting with Iraqi prisoners. The basis for the invasion of privacy claim? The AP did not obscure the soldiers' faces."
A year ago, Time declared the American soldier the Person of the Year. Well, it seems that after all those army scandals Time blundered colossally.
This blog now nominates the above American soldiers as the morons of the year. You can add their lawyers to the lot, though I suspect they are in it for the money. What about paying damages to the victims of those soldiers?
