ICH: "Recently, and within a brief time span, observers in many quarters have expressed their understanding that an unstated strategy behind the huge Republican tax cut has been to bring the US government to its financial knees, thereby making it unable to fund the Right's hated social programs - e.g., Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid - and the administration of our public domain."
BushGreenWatch: "Last month the Bush administration handed a multinational mining company 155 acres of federally owned, prime mountaintop real estate near a Colorado ski resort. The price? Just $5 an acre (a total of $875), in an area where 1/10 of an acre fetches as much as $100,000."

CommonDreams: "Our apocalyptic Right - half Christian fundamentalism, half capitalist rapacity - is the beast for the moment. It is the abomination against which it warns, for the beast is nothing more than the human form become monstrous and ecologically nihilistic."
ABC: "Lawyers acting for a U.S. advocacy group will Tuesday file war crimes charges in Germany against senior U.S. administration officials for their alleged role in torture at Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq."
ICH: "U.S. allies in the developing South are now being targeted by lawmakers here, who have already meted out punishment to nations that support the new International Criminal Court (ICC).
The retaliation would come via the 2005 foreign-aid bill, which currently contains a provision banning some 2.5 billion dollars in economic assistance for friendly governments that have not ratified a 'bilateral immunity agreement' (BIA) with Washington to shield U.S. nationals from the ICC's jurisdiction."
The US government knows it is as guilty as hell, that's why it tries to prevent charges by the ICC. The US is involved in illegal torture activities.
