BBC: "Cherie Blair's decision to make a speech on life in Downing Street for a £30,000 fee was 'outrageous' says ex-Cabinet minister Clare Short."
Let's be honest, the Blairs are full-blown capitalists. But I am sure Mrs Blair is going to donate the money to a good cause.

And, of course, life as a capitalist is not easy:
Telegraph: "Whitehall officials say Mrs Blair - despite her husband's huge future earning potential - is desperate to find ways to pay mortgage bills of about £16,500 a month on a house in Connaught Square, central London, that the couple purchased for £3.65 million last year at the height of the housing boom.
The house has since dropped in value and commands a lower rent than the Blairs had hoped. They eventually rented it out for about £8,000 a month after a long search for tenants - half the sum they had expected.
In another less than successful dabble in the property market, the Blairs also purchased two flats in Bristol three years ago for a total of £525,000.
But the investment did not pay off as their price fell by an estimated £50,000 each."
It's a hard life, I tell you. How easy everything is for the homeless.

Cherie Blair is also a high profile human rights lawyer. A new damning report (pdf) on human rights and civil liberties in the UK has just been published by the Commissioner for Human Rights:
"The United Kingdom has not been immune, however, to a tendency increasingly discernable across Europe to consider human rights as excessively restricting the effective administration of justice and the protection of the public interest."
So, Cherie's husband is largely responsible for the violations noted in the report ... and Cherie earns more money as a human rights lawyer (£250,000 as a full-time QC) than her husband does as a PM (£175,400). What a strange world this is we live in.
