DeutscheWelle: "A German court ruled Wednesday that a soldier, who refused to follow orders because he did not want to support the US-led war in Iraq, had every right to do so.
Judges at Germany's Federal Administrative Court said that members of the military could not be forced to comply with orders that go against their conscience.
German law offers strong protections for soldiers who refuse to follow orders on ethical grounds, rooted in the abuses of the Nazi past."

Independent: "Democrats are in uproar over what they see as a naked attempt by Republicans to impose more conservative views on American public television and radio channels, notable for their sober and serious BBC-style reporting and analysis, but regarded by the right as a bastion of the detested 'liberal media'.
The attack is two-pronged, financial and managerial. Last week a House committee voted to slash the budget of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB), the supervisory agency for public television and radio, by 25 per cent, or $100m (£55m), to $300m."

In the Netherlands the same thing is happening. The public broadcast budget will be halved or maybe even quartered. No more objectivity, no more documentaries that go to the heart of a problem, no more criticism of the nitwits in government.
And everything of course in the name of unity and security. Blair doesn't want dissidents in Europe, so he calls for unity, which only means the imposing of one viewpoint to the detriment of all others, and especially the people.

In fact this process is the equivalent of the Gleichschaltung in Germany in the thirties of the past century.
"It became, in 1933, the word for the process by which all organisations and associations existing in society were nazified and some, such as the political parties and the trade unions, were simply suppressed. The word was meant to hide the fact that what was going on was in flagrant breach of all previous notions of freedom, civil rights and self-government. It was a way of glossing over the threat of terror and violence that compelled individuals and organisations to come to heel. People could say that their organisations had been gleichgeschaltet (aligned, co-ordinated), when what had really happened was that former colleagues, who had become politically or racially inconvenient, had been brutally thrown out and often subjected to physical violence."

George Bush is responsible for the Gleichschaltung in the US, by replacing Democrats by Republicans in all branches of American politics and government. Bush calls it the 'removal of bias'; liberal media are 'biased' according to him because he himself is infallible and the 'truth' resides in his words only. Of course, this is the last resort of the pathological liar. Hitler seems to be his example.

ICH: "Do you want to know? That's the only popular division that matters in the United States today: Those who want to determine once and for all if President Bush knowingly 'fixed the facts' regarding Iraq, thereby misleading Congress and the American people into supporting an unnecessary war, and those who will cover their ears and hum loudly in order to maintain their belief that Bush and his advisors remain above reproach.
You're in one camp or the other. Either you want to know if you've been lied to, or you don't."
Americans who don't want to know, can't say later 'Wir haben es nicht gewusst!' ('We did not know' - the excuse the Germans used after the war for Hitler's atrocities). They deliberately chose not to know. One Nation, one Empire, one Leader. Sieg Heil!
