From the letter of Mahmood Ahmadi-Najad, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, to George W. Bush:
"If billions of dollars spent on security, military campaigns and troop movement were instead spent on investment and assistance for poor countries, promotion of health, combating different diseases, education and improvement of mental and physical fitness, assistance to the victims of natural disasters, creation of employment opportunities and production, development projects and poverty alleviation, establishment of peace, mediation between disputing states and distinguishing the flames of racial, ethnic and other conflicts were would the world be today? Would not your government, and people be justifiably proud?
Would not your administration's political and economic standing have been stronger? And I am most sorry to say, would there have been an ever increasing global hatred of the American governments?"

A picture named Bush Bozo.jpgA picture named DerFuehrer.jpg Why did millions of Germans support Hitler? For the same reasons part of the American population supports Bush. It's the banality of it all. People want to believe the lies of their leaders and condone their cheats. Why should they know about torture, imperialism, war? They only want to see the positive side of everything. See no evil, hear no evil, in particular when it's right before their own eyes.

George W. Bush is a likeable chap. Like Hitler he is 'a man of the people', that is, he is uneducated, is egotistical, is a cheater, like many of his supporters. And he has a great fairy tale to tell, that one about freedom, and liberty and democracy, which he so cutely pronounces as 'freedumb, libbedy and the mockracy'. Bush is the ideal mix of Bozo and the Great Leader, with a message of 'don't worry - be happy; everything is normal; I'm taking care of it. Honey, pass the bombs'.

The Banality of Evil: "Doing terrible things in an organized and systematic way rests on 'normalization'. This is the process whereby ugly, degrading, murderous, and unspeakable acts become routine and are accepted as 'the way things are done'. There is usually a division of labor in doing and rationalizing the unthinkable, with the direct brutalizing and killing done by one set of individuals; others keeping the machinery of death (sanitation, food supply) in order; still others producing the implements of killing, or working on improving technology (a better crematory gas, a longer burning and more adhesive napalm, bomb fragments that penetrate flesh in hard-to-trace patterns). It is the function of defense intellectuals and other experts, and the mainstream media, to normalize the unthinkable for the general public."

The positive thing is that the American society is resilient enough to come to its senses and give the bastard the message that they no longer have confidence in him. America can regain its freedom, liberty and democracy.

Haaretz: "More than half of Israelis think the government should encourage its Arab citizens to emigrate from Israel, according to an annual survey by the Israel Democracy Institute."

Part of these Israelis are immigrants whose ancestors did not have a relation with the land for thousands of years. The Palestines are living on their own land. So, in fact a majority of the Israelis is in favour of ethnic cleansing. One should have expected better from people who suffered so much under the Nazi regime. Will people never learn? The Palestinians are the new Semites.

Independent: "We have been conned again. The Israeli elections, we are told, mean that the dream of 'Greater Israel' has finally been abandoned. West Bank settlements will be closed down, just as the Jewish colonies were uprooted in Gaza last year. The Zionist claim to all of Biblical Israel has withered away. Likud, the nightmare party of Menachem Begin and Benjamin Netanyahu, has been smashed by the Gaullist figure of the dying Ariel Sharon, whose Kadima party now embraces Ehud Olmert and that decaying symbol of the Israeli left, Nobel prizewinner Shimon Peres. This, at least, is the narrative laid down by so many of our journalists, analysts and commentators. But it is a lie.

Only in paragraph two - or three or four - of the grovelling news reports from the Middle East do we read that Olmert's not very impressive election victory will allow him to redraw the 'frontiers' of Israel, a decision described as 'controversial' - the usual get-out clause of newspapers that wish to avoid the truth: that Israel is about to grab more land and claim it to be part of the state of Israel. Yes, true, the smaller and more vulnerable Jewish colonies illegally built on Palestinian-owned land may be abandoned - stand by for more of the grief and tears which we witnessed in Gaza. But the rest - the great semi-circle of concrete that runs around east Jerusalem, for example - will not be depopulated."

If there is a problem in the Middle East, it is Israel.
LondonReviewofBooks: "For the past several decades, and especially since the Six-Day War in 1967, the centrepiece of US Middle Eastern policy has been its relationship with Israel. The combination of unwavering support for Israel and the related effort to spread 'democracy' throughout the region has inflamed Arab and Islamic opinion and jeopardised not only US security but that of much of the rest of the world.

Unlike the US, where people are supposed to enjoy equal rights irrespective of race, religion or ethnicity, Israel was explicitly founded as a Jewish state and citizenship is based on the principle of blood kinship. Given this, it is not surprising that its 1.3 million Arabs are treated as second-class citizens, or that a recent Israeli government commission found that Israel behaves in a 'neglectful and discriminatory' manner towards them. Its democratic status is also undermined by its refusal to grant the Palestinians a viable state of their own or full political rights."

Israel is a failed state. It cannot sustain itself without US help, it is kept going by a right-wing US administration. The state of Israel is not democratic, it is racist and fundamentalist.

TimesOnline: "Britain is preparing to give up the national veto on EU law-and-order legislation after Brussels demanded that national governments surrender control of key policies to combat terrorism and organised crime."
If Blair can't push his ID card through the throats of his citizens, he lets the EU do the job.

Guardian: "Gordon Brown must bear responsibility for the Norwich NHS scandal that let corporations pocket £95m of public cash."
Let's be honest, the aim of New Labour and the present neocon drive in privatisation and deregulation is to fleece the taxpayer and siphon the money to corporations. Health is an expanding market.

Guardian: "Patients undergoing routine dental treatments for root canal problems may have been exposed to infection by the human form of BSE because instruments have been previously used on patients unwittingly carrying the incurable disease, government scientific advisers said yesterday."
Have you also noticed that when you go for a blood check in a hospital they never change their gloves the whole day? And one might suspect that people who need a blood check have a health problem.

CitizenAlert: "The U.S. Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) had planned to detonate a 700-ton ammonium nitrate and fuel oil explosive on June 2, 2006 at the Nevada Test Site (NTS), a federal facility 65 miles north of Las Vegas. They are calling this test 'Divine Strake'."
Divine Strake? Why not Satan's Strike?

USNewswire: "On Friday, May 5, 2006, Pennsylvania elections officials locked down and sequestered all of their Diebold touchscreen electronic vote machines after a major firmware flaw was revealed which constitues a major national security risk. VelvetRevolution.us (VR) has been reporting for over a year that these machines are a threat to democracy because of major security deficiencies and lack of oversight which allows them to be exploited to easily manipulate votes without a trace.
The latest problem - remarkably a previously undisclosed feature implemented by Diebold to make the machines easier to 'upgrade' - reveals that the vulnerable firmware cannot be fixed with a simple software patch."

LiveScience: "After decades of upgrades to a fleet of notoriously cramped Sikorsky VH-3 Sea Kings, the White House has tasked Lockheed Martin with a dramatic, $6.1-billion makeover of Marine One, the presidential helicopter, starting this summer. The goal: to fit a mobile Oval Office into the tight quarters of a chopper. The new fleet will consist of 23 VH-71 aircraft, each of which will have 200 square feet of cabin space, nearly double the Sea King's 116."
What's wrong with that? The POTUS needs more space to bring along his mountain bike and maybe transport Ofelia, his longhorn.
