Guardian: "Four years before 'shock and awe' was unleashed on Baghdad, Blair played a key role in another act of international aggression which, like the Iraq war, was also based on a fraudulent prospectus.
The 1999 attack on Yugoslavia was in clear breach of international law. Only the UN security council can authorise military action against a sovereign state, and the UN security council was not consulted. The attack was also in breach of Nato's own charter, which only allowed the use of force when a member state was attacked.
The stated casus belli was that Yugoslavia, in Blair's own words, was 'set on a Hitler-style genocide equivalent to the extermination of the Jews in world war two' against the ethnic Albanian population in the province of Kosovo.

For the first time since Warsaw Pact tanks rolled into Czechoslovakia in 1968, a European state, which threatened no other, had been attacked. A dangerous precedent - that of riding roughshod over international law - had been set.
Just how dangerous, we would all see four years later."

And in a way the Clinton administration is to blame for letting Germany get away with inciting a civil war in Yugoslavia. Since then Bush could build on this practice and since Bush's coup to power in the US, the democrats have been silent and conniving. Instead of eradicating torture and injustice, they have increased it a thousandfold.
Since then democracy, liberty, freedom and justice are under attack; the 'ideal' neocon state is being promoted and wreaking havoc, starting wars for oil and profit wherever it can. In Britain we see the same 'trahison des clercs' - the treason of the intellectuals - wrought by New Labour.
Statesmanship nowadays is the ability to lie and get away with it. The care for a whole nation has been scrapped for the care for the greedy corporations who have no longer any national responsibility nor recognize any sovereignty of nations.

Guardian: "Ministers unveiled sweeping legislation yesterday containing measures to allow widespread data sharing between public and private sectors for the first time in the name of tackling fraud.
The serious crime bill, which also proposes so-called 'super Asbos' to target criminal masterminds, will allow public and private sector anti-fraud agencies to access personal financial information, including pay, tax, pension and benefit records held across the public sector."

Criminal masterminds? You won't find much of them among the old age pensioners or people drawing benefits. The bill is not meant to tackle the company frauds, certainly not after a thorough deregulation which gave them all the freedom they need to continue their fraudulent scam.
And you don't have to read John le Carré's 'The Mission Song' to know how international exploitation works. It's still the same old colonialism, only now they call it 'globalism'. And the worst is that the neocons want your money and blood to fight their wars for their profit.

ABC30: "Two U.S. Attorneys in California announced they are stepping down, as critics alleged political pressure from the Bush administration was pushing them and others out of their jobs."

SFGate: "Attorney General Alberto Gonzales on Wednesday warned federal judges not to meddle in cases involving national security, following a string of judicial rebukes of the Bush administration's anti-terrorism initiatives."

RawStory: "A new Pentagon detainee manual could allow executions based on 'hearsay evidence', according to a report.
'We have learned that the Pentagon has just completed a manual for the coming detainee trials that would allow suspected terrorist to be imprisoned or executed using hearsay evidence or coerced testimony,' said Nora O'Donnell, chief Washington correspondent for MSNBC. 'In other words, could be put to death on hearsay evidence...'"

The apology from Stimson, Defense Dept., yesterday is not sincere. It's only meant to placate the storm his words raised. And George W. Bush is not going to reduce or regulate his spying on Americans. He's just lying more than usual now that he is being exposed nationwide. And George Bush is not a Christian, he's a backward hillbilly hijacking religion as an excuse for his crimes.

HuffingtonPost: "Americans rank next-to-last on a survey of 34 nations' acceptance of evolution as a scientific fact."
