UnionOfConcernedScientists: "The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has begun closing its nationwide network of scientific libraries, effectively preventing EPA scientists and the public from accessing vast amounts of data and information on issues from toxicology to pollution. Several libraries have already been dismantled, with their contents either destroyed or shipped to repositories where they are uncataloged and inaccessible."

ProgressiveMajority: "A major school district in Washington State has temporarily banned Al Gore's environmental documentary An Inconvenient Truth for being 'bias'.
How can something based on scientific evidence be labeled 'bias'?"

AlterNet: "The reverberations from those four Blackwater mercenaries brutally killed in Fallujah have traveled far and wide - sparking, among other events, the horrific Siege of Fallujah that Dahr Jamail called, simply, 'Our Guernica'.
The families of the mutilated Blackwater contractors later sued the firm, alleging that various cost-cutting measures ultimately led to the men's deaths, and that those measures amounted to breach of contract.

Borowitz: "In dorms and frat houses alike, collegians spent Tuesday laying in ice cold kegs of Old Milwaukee and bottles of Jagermeister, ready to down a beer or do a shooter when Mr. Bush said the word 'Iraq'."

Greg Palast: "There was that tongue again. When the President lies he's got this weird nervous tick: He sticks the tip of his tongue out between his lips. Like a little boy who knows he's fibbing. Like a snake licking a rat.
In his State of the Union tonight the President did his tongue thing 124 times - my kids kept count."

BBC: "A European Parliament committee has approved a report which says EU states knew of secret CIA flights over Europe.
The report, which goes to a vote of the full parliament next month, also says the UK, Italy and Poland were reluctant to co-operate with the investigation.
EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana and EU counter-terrorism co-ordinator Gijs de Vries are accused of failing to reveal all they knew to the special parliamentary committee.
The report says more than 1,000 covert CIA flights crossed European airspace or stopped at European airports."

EUObserver: "The European Parliament's committee on CIA activities in Europe has called for sanctions to be imposed on member states which have condoned violation of human rights by US intelligence and slammed the EU council [the member states' secretariat] for 'trying to lie' to parliamentarians."
