Jim's Pond - Exploring the Universe of Ideas
"Beware when the great God lets loose a thinker on this planet. Then all things are at risk. It is as when a conflagration has broken out in a great city, and no man knows what is safe, or where it will end." --Ralph Waldo Emerson

Keeping Score

We all love numbers. They tell us things about our world. That's why I'm having my staff develop a Scorecard. (It seems that the term "report card" has circulated around UEN and the project is referred to by that name. This is a mistake that is, perhaps, subtle, but important to me. However, I won't go into the differences here.)

Scorecard is very important to UEN. It will help us know how we are doing in terms of running a network. We've spent time thinking about, and defining, just what "things" should be measured. We've agreed on what should be reported on our Scorecard. Soon this tool will be available to all UEN users.

My staff has been diligent in making this happen. I was pleased to learn today that efforts are under way to get input from our stakeholders prior to finalizing our software development. Great. I'm about to get what I want. I sure hope we use it. I also hope that having Scorecard improves the services we provide.

We are going to find out.
