Jim's Pond - Exploring the Universe of Ideas
"Beware when the great God lets loose a thinker on this planet. Then all things are at risk. It is as when a conflagration has broken out in a great city, and no man knows what is safe, or where it will end." --Ralph Waldo Emerson

Firsts

When I was a kid it seemed that the world was filled with exciting, new things. Now, as a Grow Upj I find that those first time experiences don't come along very often.

Standing in the aisle of the 757 at Cincinati last Sunday I was waiting right behind the first class passengers to debark. My seat was on the bulkhead right behind first class. I had to step back a few seats to get my carry on bag. I returned to the area right by the mid cabin door.

To my surprise a flight attendant asked me to step aside as he opened that door. The jetway was docking right in front of me. I was the first to walk off the plane. As I stepped from the plane to the jetway it hit me. This was the first time I'd ever been the first one out of the plane. Well, firsts don't happen every day. It's a simple thing. I'm glad that simple things still affect me.
