Blogger Woes

Mark Jen has been at Google for less than a month. He's a blogger and started his 99zeroes blog his first day on the job. If your a blogger you probably have followed this story. Even if you don't blog, you can probably guess the rest. Jen is in big trouble.

I checked out a few of his posts and feel for him. I've made some dumb mistakes on my blog. Mark indicates that he posted thinking that his friends and family could keep up with his new job without having to repeat his story multiple times. He apparently made a typical mistake. He forgot that it's a world-wide-web. The same thing has happened to me.

I have a certain audience in mind and write to a few friends and associates that I know read my blog. Most of the time I write to myself. Weird. Then I get email from far away places and responses to months-ago-posts and realize just what an amazing thing it is to blog. We live in a small world.

Mark has taken a lot of shots. He's been told to shut his "PIE HOLE", among other things. His latest post challenges anonymous trolls to have some courage.

I'm watching to see what happens next. Jen definitely put some things in his blog that made me nervous. I've worked for big companies. Anything that affects stock prices is taboo. Anything that embarrasses management is best left unsaid. But a company that buys into blogging and is depending on it for future earnings, now that's something to watch............
