70. ATARI PONG C-100, 1976

In early 1976 I worked fixing Telephone systems for ITT. At lunch my boss and I would go to the Sears in downtown SLC. We made the trek almost every day. We went to play a cool new game called PONG. It's #70 on Mobile PC's Top 100 Gadgets of All Time. It's a fun list. Enjoy........

Incredibles

I was wondering when "The Incredibles" would be released for purchase on DVD.

It turns out that March 15, 2005 is the date. I don't mind admitting that this is one movie that I will own. It may be animated, but it's still one of the most enjoyable films I've seen in recent memory.........

Tivo, PVR or DVR

Lately I've been thinking about Tivo. I got started when a hallway conversation at my office unveiled the CIO as a closet Techie who had installed his own MythTV. Hmmmm.

A couple of weekends ago I almost purchased a Tivo at Circuit City on a whim. Almost. Then I decided to give it a rest and now the weeks have gone by and I still don't have Tivo.

While resting from some highly technical, somewhat boring reading on Monday I googled MythTV and quickly realized that putting this together may take more of my time than I'm willing to give. Do I really need television this much? What's so wrong with the way I watch TV now? And, most important, how much would I miss my remote?

I asked around during a meeting this morning. Several answers were given. I was encouraged to google "PVR". I did. It stands for Personal Video Recorders. Something I didn't even think about before now.

Another new idea was to google snapstream. This is a digital video recorder that I need to understand better. I didn't have time to look into these searches at the meeting. I'll get into it later.

Tonight I've been trying to get a better idea of what options are available with Tivo. This has given me an new set of blogs to look into and some interesting ideas to consider. Well, it seems that the fun has just begun. Where will it lead?.........
