Googling

I was reading in my "Google Hacking" book yesterday. There is some great material. Really helpful.

I've been attending a Qwest High Performance Networking Summit. Prior to arriving I realized that all my information about the conference location, agenda, etc. was left behind in Utah. I did have internet access and did google High +Performance +Networking +Summit and got a lot of information that wasn't very helpful. Links on the first page were from 2002. I tried adding a +2005 but it wasn't helpful. The results changed very little. I think + 2005 was ignored.

Trying to date limit a search from the google window is very difficult. The best thing to do is modify the URL. Next time you need to get the most current information try this. From the google page perform a standard search. Then at the following to the end of the google generated URL:

&as_qdr=m3

That's all. Don't add any spaces between the end of the URL and the &. This will modify the search for items within the past three months. For a six month search use &as_qdr=M6 and see what happens. I wish I'd known this a couple of days ago............
