I didn't watch last night's Democratic debate, moderated by Ted Koppel. But I did hear morning news coverage of it on NPR. I can't believe his opening question was to ask the candidates what would be the impact of Al Gore's endorsement of Dean. And then asked additional follow-up questions on the subject!

What nonsense. So much of the news coverage is already devoted to the horse-race aspect of the campaign. There is just no reason for the moderator to introduce this subject. Jim Lehrer would never have done that.
