Mr. Vara, with 30 years' service, stands to get a $1.5 million check from the program when he turns 60 in seven years. In addition, he will receive monthly pension checks totaling about $110,000 a year. Just another illustration of the adage that "when government is a trough, politic becomes a feeding frenzy".
