trackback []

I had never seen a fox in the wild in my life. Several times I had been in a car, at night, with sharper-eyed people, like my wife, who claimed to have seen one briefly on the side of the road. But never me. Now I have seen two (or maybe the same one) up close, in daylight, within a week!

4 days ago, we were walking to the neighborhood park in the evening. It was just after sundown, but still quite light. And we spotted the fox in a backyard we were passing. It stayed still a few moments, might have longer if not for the yelling from my kids, before loping off.

Then tonight, we were out on our deck eating dinner, before sundown. Out of the corner of my eye I saw some motion, and thought, hmmm, that's an awfully big rabbit. I turned to look, and it was a fox, running through our backyards. Of course the dog in the fenced-in yard behind us was barking like mad.

My next question, since we have a cat that sometimes goes outside--are foxes a danger to cats. Sounds like they aren't, which is what I thought.
